It’s influenced by our daily habits and even our mindsets.
How to Add Happiness to Life & Travel
Working in the health & wellness field, it comes as no surprise that I’m an advocate for well-being.
I’m also a big proponent of wellness travel, traveling in ways that enhance health & well-being.
Which is why wellness travel is for everyone.
It helps us to live our best lives. And it’s the perfect opportunity to be intentional about seeking out positive experiences.
There are many simple ways you can boost your daily happiness both at home & during travel.
Whether you are on the road or going about your daily life, here are 7 ways to add more happiness to your days.
Do What You Love
Doing what you love makes you more engaged.
With that comes enthusiasm and fulfillment. As well as, some old fashioned fun!
For example, if you love visiting old ruins, visit a heritage site. Love the coziness of small boutique hotels, stay in one. Feel energized by the ocean, explore the seaside. Love photography, take your camera.
You get the idea.
No matter where you find yourself in the world, build things into your day that make your heart sing!
Do what you love, and be all there!
Find Joy In The Little Things
Whether your day is going according to plan, or not, the little things have a way of making any day better.
Turn that corner and explore more. Savor the aroma of your morning coffee. Watch wildlife. Or sit down and take in the view.
Find joy in the little things, they are great contributors to your happiness!
By now, we all know that exercise has a positive effect on our mood. And even just a little exercise can make us happier.
Whether you are at home or traveling, there are always opportunities to work in some physical activity. It can even be something as simple as taking a walk, which can be done anywhere!
Try changing it up with a nature walk or a mindful photo walk. Or if you are on the road, work in an outdoor pursuit. It can be a great way to experience the local culture and meet new people.
So, go hike the coast, ramble the countryside, or rent a bike. Really, there’s so much to do!
And too little time to do it all. 😉
Spend Time In Nature
Did you know that just 15 minutes in nature can make you happier?
The health benefits of nature are well-documented. Not only does nature encourage physical activity, but it also allows for socialization. Which the 2020 World Happiness Report cites as one of the strongest determinants of happiness.
So, slow down and take a pause. Breathe in the fresh air, sit in the sun, or stop and take in the scenery.
Or grab someone and add some movement to the mix. Take a mindful photo walk, visit a landscape garden, walk the beach, or take a boat tour.
Indeed, every season and location will offer opportunities to digitally detox and explore. Heck, if you are really gung-ho on experiencing nature, plan a tech-free vacation!

As it turns out, there are actually health benefits to the simple everyday habit of smiling. Besides improving your mood, it helps your body to release chemicals that reduce stress and strengthen the immune system. Ahhh…
Just try it! Anytime, anywhere.
Smiling will open the door to connecting with others and spread some cheer. Certainly, we can all use a bit more of that in today’s world!
Mindfulness is a self-care tool that can be practiced anywhere, anytime! Making it ideal for both at home and on the road.
In fact, mindful travel being my preferred approach to any travel adventure.
Research shows that we are happiest when we are being mindful of the moment.
So, use your senses to give your full attention to the experiences at hand and be fully present.
Get caught up in the sunset, feel the breeze on your face, or linger for a little while longer and take in the view.
Certainly, these are the moments that stay with you, long after your travels are through.
Engage In Self-Care
Self-care is how we ensure and maintain our best selves.
There are so many things we can do on a daily basis that affect our well-being. So make yourself a priority. Take small steps daily to support your mind & body.
If you are traveling, bring your self-care routine with you. Then schedule nature time, a few tech-free experiences, or try something new.
When you are at home, engage with morning and evening self-care routines, spend time with family & friends, and do things that bring laughter.
In short, Life is too short not to nourish our minds & bodies and do things that bring meaning to our days.
